    Okay here is my problem.

I have started to build a webmastering portal, however i haev decided for a number of reasons that this is not viable.

I need an idea for my site, i would like to still do something to do with webdevelopment, the question i'm asking is what.

This may not be the right forum to ask this but i cant think were else i would ask.

I would like to hear anyones viewpoints on what is missing along the lines o webdevelopment help and that sort of thing.

    TIA

I have had an idea, and i would alos like your opinions on this...

What about a sort of organisation that unites all the young webdevelopers (under 16).

If there are any such people out there what is your opinion on a site that would offer mainly just community but a bit more alot specifically for young webies.

Just an idea your opinions plz.

    TIA

Damn, 16 eh? It seems all of a sudden I'm no longer considered young.. what a crushing blow

I think the term "young webmaster" should encompass at least everyone under 18, possibly 19. That way it would work out much better. The people at the top end will most likely be the most experienced (seeing as young teens have been webmastering for years now.. ) so can help to give direction to the younger (note that I understand age doesn't equate with skill or experience, but right now a lot of the webmasters 17-19 have been doing it for several years themselves.. so will often have more experience) ones, without it seeming to be strict orders from The Man, or an authority figure.

Either way, I look forward to seeing what you come up with

One site that is not out there (to my knowledge, it probably is out there but I think there is still room for growth) is a site that deals with strictly backend things. Using different databases, converting between them, server adminisitration etc.

This is one field where my knowledge isn't as much as I'd like it to be and I don't know of any universal reference place for this kind of stuff. Wayne said awhile ago he was thinking about doing this but then he changed his mind. I think making a site like this would be a good idea.

    Maybe i have finally discovered a niche...MAYBE

What i envisage is a community atmosphere were Young People can seek answers to their problems, quieries, etc.

Point taken about the age thing, possible if it was to encompass everyone until about school leaving age. What i basically think would be nice is an atmosphere were young developers could let their hair down with other like people, if you get what i mean.
Of course this is the net and there is no way to confirm ones age.

If you would like to part of the new sites team please email at webmaster@mad-onion.com i would love to hear your thoughts or ideas.

I have defiantely decided to can the old site...LMAO

    Thanks guys

I'll be working on a new project (or two) soon, perhaps I can find a way that we could mutually benefit one another.

I think YoungWebmasters.com is aiming to do the same thing. Perhaps he'd be willing to give you advice on how to being such a venture.

Great idea - although I must say that I don't see what age has to do with anything when it comes to Web Development. I am new to the scene and if it were not for you "teenagers" out there, I would be completely lost.

Anyhow, good luck with the venture. Since I am at least three times your age I will not be able to join in the fun - unfortunately. (Maybe I can join three times? )
