CSS navigation

I was reading the navigation CSS article and used some of the code to build a navigation system. I am having one problem though. When I visit a page I would like the color of the font to stay the same. I am currently using, Link, visited, active and hover. None of these seem to be doing the trick. I thought "active" would cover that? I am very new to CSS. Is there another state I could use?

try just this at the bottom of your stylesheet, it should overide the current ones you already have otherwise post some of the source you have...

a { color: #F5F5F5;}
a:link { color: #F5F5F5;}
a:visited { color: #F5F5F5; }
a:hover { color: #F5F5F5; }

or:

a, :link, :visited, :link:hover, :visited:hover,
:link:active, :visited:active, :link:focus, :visited:focus  {
  color: #F5F5F5;
}
