free high quality images

is there a site out there that lets you download and use free high quality images. i have looked all over.. but found nothing

I don't know that you'll find really high quality images for free. I have seen sites with free stock photography but it was low res... web quality photos.

Good photographers want to be paid for their work (understandably) and even royalty-free photography is cheap... much cheaper than the alternatives

Try Corbis.com. Not sure if they are free though.

They are most definately not free. You will see a lot of sites that offer free comping images. You are allowed to use them to do make-ups but are not allowed to use them commercially unless you pay for them. They're usually low-res too.

Try the NOAA Photo Library Home Page http://www.photolib.noaa.gov/ Thousands of photos paid for with your tax dollars. You still have to give them a text credit for the photo. All in all an awesome site.

Moved to a forum where you're more likely to get reponses. I'm sure you'll find that a search on the forums (top right) for "royalty free images" will yield loads of results.
