photoshop 7 pen function question

Hi, I was trying to use the PEN function in photoshop 7 . The different from Photoshop 6 is that photoshop 7 fills up my PATH, see image below plz. Where can I change this option, I'v been looking around, but still can't figure out, thx if anyone could help!

Up at the top - just below [Image - Layer on the toolbar] there's a series of three boxes.. just click the one in the middle to change the way it does it
