    Smtp

Hello, I am wondering how to make my local server send mail.

I have Windows XP Pro with IIS setup and a Virtual SMTP server.

I have php 4.2.1 setup locally

    I have MySql Setup locally.

I am trying to run php scripts locally and one of them sends emails out. I am having a brain-cramp and drawing a blank on why my server is not sending mail out. (it doesn't appear to be doing anything with the mail).

I know the script works cause it functions when I upload it to my ISP service.
I know that my local php, MySql and Web server are functioning properly.

    Can anyone please enlighten me?

I'm not a PHP bod, but my money's on your SMTP server setting in PHP (there must be one somewhere) not being configured correctly (if at all).

A quick search on Google reveals the following....
PHP does need to be installed and setup properly for mail to work. On a Unix-type setup, such as Linux, PHP will use your local sendmail program to send it. Windows machines use SMTP. If you need to you can edit your php.ini file and set the appropiate SMTP host you use to send email.
