I'm at school now (on a T1 connection by the way) and we have some laptops that were donated. They only have a floppy drive, hard drive, 24 MB of RAM, and that's about it... We managed to install Windows 95 on them and they seem to be working well for our purposes. We do have problem. We have some large files we need to tranfer over and decided to put them on a zip disk. We have an external zip drive (Iomega Zip 100 Plus), but it only has a CD-ROM with the drivers on it. No floppies... How can we get the iomega installtion file moved over (4MB) successfully?

I think WinZip and WinRAR have some kind of disk spanning feature. I can't remember the details, but I think I used it once.

You could probably download the files from the Internet...or copy the install files from the CD to the Internet, then copy to the hard drive of the laptop and install from there.

I dunno if you can still get these, but my first zip drive had a floppy disk with it. You used a program called Guest to temporarily set up the zip drive but not install the software. Have a look at http://www.iomega.com and see if you can download it.

    Hope this helps a bit.

My ZIP drive also came with a floppy. I bought it in 1997 or 1998.
