I'm currently configuring a friends computer, and as they are minors, would like to hide autoexec.bat etc from them, as they have already caused a lot of stress and frustration deleting them!

Is there a quick and effective way of doing this?

In Windows Explorer choose View -> Folder Options. On the resulting Dialog box choose the View Tab. There are options in there to "Show All Files", "Hide Hidden Files", or "Hide System and Hidden Files".

If you use the command line attrib command and make the file an actual system file you can make it so they can't delete them either.

Type "attrib /?" at the command prompt for help on using this command.
