A download compatible with more than one game version

    Right.

I've got a table that holds the data for all of my website's downloads. The website is dedicated to a PC game which in other words implies that the downloads are files that are for the game. One of the fields in the table is game_version which contains the Id number of the game the download works for.

The problem I'm having is trying to figure out what the most efficient way I should have the table structured/code written for downloads that work on more than one version of the game. I know the easiest way to go about this is by creating duplicate copies of the original row created for the download only with a different value in the game_version field. But surely there's a more practical way to do this.

    Any suggestions will be appreciated.

You could have a seperate table that associates one version_id to one download_id.

Then select download_id where version_id and join the tables to get the download....

Hope that was clear, if not, i'll explain more.
