It's personal choice. Computer Geek is just a label.

If you're happy spending most of your time designing websites (god knows I spend all week at it, the weekends is the only time I go out) then do it.

Forget what people think, just do it. If you want to go out and meet people, do that. Does it matter?

As long as you're happy and having fun, keep doing what you're doing. I used to get branded a 'geek' a lot at school cos i'd rather stay in and program things on my C64 than go out and play football, but I was happy doing it and it taught me a lot. Now I spent most nights doing my own web stuff, and the days at work. Same scenario really, but I travel a lot at the weekend.

The point to all this waffle is, do whatever makes you happy. If people disagree, so what.

    Here endeth my rant.

Sorry if I hurt anyones feelings by that remark but I used to sit at my computer a lot, I was depressed, unfit and bored.

Now I am fit, happy because I go out a lot and never board.

I still love reading computer magazines and learning new languages etc. But if I was at home and a friend asked me over ICQ or the phone if I want to hang awhile, then I will, I love computers, but I love hanging around my friends more.

Just one comment: Shin Ma - Correct me if I'm wrong but I always thought a computer geek was someone who knows a lot about computers, not someone that sits at the computer all the time, maybe I'm wrong?

I have 2 more years of being a kid, I'm going to use them.

Very well ranted! I do agree with you. I just don't want people to refer to a misspent youth as a time they did not get to do what they can't do once they get to my advanced age
