Are you earning money? Really?

I am just wondering.... How much money are you guys here making on your websites? Are there any substancial amounts? In that case, how many visitors do you have? Do you earn from advertising and/or selling inventory? I'd love to know about real life here.

I make NO money on my Gibraltar website. My links to Amazon etc barely pay for hosting fees. I suppose I could make money if I wanted to because there is big potential in Gibrlatar, but that particular site is a labour of love.

I make probably $50 a month from advertising on a few pages. The other $400-$500 month comes from sales and custom work.

Well, I'm just curious, since I'm wondering if you can actually make a living on your site... How much traffic do you heve to get? I'm just theorizing whether it is possible or not...

I still live with my parents, and cant make enought to live by myself, but i still go to high school so its ok, lately traffic has been picking up, and im planning on creating a couple of more sites.

Sitepoint make money, and Matt and the gang live off it... they get heaps of traffic.. there are a couple of people like that on these forums, but most of us are in it for fun

Maybe you should try posting this in the general area.

You have to remember with Sitepoint though is it is extremely targetted traffic. I think they sell top banner space at $35 CPM, and they dont pay any of that to an ad agency.

Typical people who'll go through an ad network will make much less, I think now adays they'd be happy with $5 CPM, sometimes even with $2 CPM.
