University in Australia
I'm from the US and am pondering the idea of furthering my education in Australia. In the end of April I will have a 2-year degree in digital media and I've been teaching myself PHP and Flash on my own time. Can anyone suggest any places? Has anyone else here ventured out and did the same?

I remember seeing some posts awhile back about schools in Austrailia. I'd do a keyword search and something's bound to turn up that should give you a place to start.

Well USQ in Toowoomba won australian uni of the year and have also won world's best university.
Though in my opinion acolades aren't the way to choose a university.
go to all the universities sites. there are only 50 or so unis here in australia so it's an easy task. look at the various departments/faculties that you are wanting to study through look at their course and subject descriptions and see what will fit best with your career.
once you've deceided down to say 5 unis. then see which uni has th best location, culture and fit to your lifestyle and personality.
us aussies will certainly be able to help with telling you about each unis culture and about their locations.
hope it works out well. australia is anawesome place!
cheers

We have Southern Cross University in Lismore. It's got a large international student centre and a good multimedia school, but I can't vouch for the multimedia course as I'm doing a business course.

I'd pick the place you to be based in over what uni you want to attend unless you're after a specialized program such as graphics or games. Otherwise most Australian Universities seem to run a similar program.

But International students can apply directly to most universitys, also some universitys (e.g. wollongong) will allow Mature Age local students (over 21) to apply directly.
