Hope everyone is well today
Do you think web development would be easier if there was only one program designed to do one thing.
What I mean is, if only there was the likes of Dreamweaver to design sites and if only there was Photoshop for graphics. Or maybe the only programming language was maybe PHP and the only database software was MySQL.
Imagine if the PHP and MySQL scenario was true. If so, people would always be bettering PHP scripts rather than coming up with new language to better what's already in PHP.
Firstly, this would stop all the debates about which program/script was better than the other. Everyone would have to learn the same one. All the resources geared towards making a better program/script would be brought together allowing that program/script to be bettered even furter.
That's my $0.02 anyways.

no, because in order to accomodate everyone' needs those programs/languages/db/etc will have to be really complex, meaning a higher learning curve. besides, i dont think it would be possible to meet everyone's needs for everything in one programm...
now, if the browsers were standard :))) (wishing on a star)

Only two viable presidential candidates.
Bush & Gore.
And I thought America was about choice.

There is only one dinner (macaroni and cheese).
Only one type of car (Ford Pinto).
Only one ISP (AOL)..
I think if you look at it that way you will see why it wouldn't work as previously thought.

It would make things easier on us, but ever since its conception, the Internet has always changed and developed into something bigger, faster and better. If it hadn't, we'd all still be using 2400 baud modems, and launching Mosaic to view static and uninteresting web pages. If there hadn't been any changes or differences to the Internet, then it would still be forbidden to do business online!

Your 'choice' is to live by our rules or we'll put you in a cage. Luckily, we inept at keeping you there and you'll be out in 24 hours no matter what you do. Unless, of course, we decide you are guilty *before* your trial, then we'll just keep you in the cage anyway (denial of bail).
The policital choices you have? Don't get me started...
