    Need help with divs

    I have a basic two colum layout and inside the div named centercontent (which is now the right column) I want another 2/3 columns still using divs. Anything I try doesn't work for me, can anyone help? Here's my css so far

    #leftcontent {
    position: absolute;
    left: 0px;
    top: 90px;
    width: 160px;
    background-color: #336699;
    }
    #centercontent {
    position:absolute;
    top: 114px;
    margin-right: 20px;
    margin-left: 170px;
    height: 400px;
    background-color: #eeeeeee;
    }

    instead of using
    "
    position:absolute;
    left: 0px;
    top: 90px;
    "
    try using "float: left;" for both selectors.
