A couple of questions about .htaccess

    1) What code do I use to tell it to recognise .php 404's as well as .htm 404's.
    2) How do I get it to "monitor" every directory for 404's, without having to put a seperate .htaccess in each one.

    All replies are appreciated.

    In your root directory put:

    ErrorDocument 404 http://www.url.to/404/error/page

This will direct all 404 errors to the url you specify, regardless of extension. It will affect all directories stemming from the one you put it in.
