    What browser do you use?

Kind of curious to see what everyone browses with out there. Echoecho.com shows overwhelming use of various IE browsers followed by Netscape. I use IE primarily, but I have the other browsers to check for CSS problems. Opera is awesome (very fast and very user friendly) and I have been using it a lot more recently than IE or Mozilla.

    How bout y'all?

    I'm a recent mozilla convert.

However, I still use IE on some occasions...like right now. I dloaded opera just to check what my websites look like in opera and to check some accessibility issues.

Mozilla and IE6, mainly IE6 for browsing, as is Javascript is faster than Mozilla, and other things, but for developing I develop for Mozilla first then IE6.

(Actually I have most of the weird quirks memorized now, so usually any html i write working in IE and Mozilla right off the bat)

Chimera at the moment as my main browser. I'll be switching back to OmniWeb when they start using WebCore as the rendering engine. If I ever get around to getting Jaguar, I'll switch to Safari while I wait for OmniWeb to release the new version. Mozilla is my back-up; IE is only used for site-check.

Chimera has recently taken top slot in my day to day browsing too.
It's still a little wobbly and has some issues (esp. with plugin-based content and type sizes) and has a feature set that doesn't really sync with my needs/preferences, but it's good, quick and reliable enough for general use.

Previously it was IE5.2.2 which is now set as an instinctive secondary in those dev apps that use such settings.
I don't use it for browsing much anymore.
Bringing up the rear (and really only for testing purposes) is Mozilla followed at a great distance by Opera.

    Arrow browsers

I use Internet Explorer as my default browser, but I fall in love with the "tabs" on the latest Netscape, Opera and Mozillabrowser. I find myself surfing more and more with the Mozilla, but I design my sites for all of the ww3-standard compliant ones.

The fact that 8/9 out of 10 (normal) people watch "my" websites through the IE5.5 or IE6.0 browser, gives me not much of a choice.

But fortunatly the importance of the type of browser is not as big of a deal anymore soon, with the CSS3.0 coming up and all the major versions 8.0-browsers will surely be even more compliant... I hope..

    where is the poll?

Yeah I love the tabbed surfing now Couldn't live without it

I find that mozilla is pretty good with html, although you do find out who codes properly when you surf around in mozilla

I use Mozilla (1.3 alpha), IE (6 SP1), and Opera (7.01) pretty evenly. At work I also have NS4, but just for testing (I hate it, but have to do it still). When I had a dual-boot system with Linux I used Chimera and Konqueror pretty frequently too. Since I'm just on Windows XP now I haven't been able to check the other browsers out. Hopefully I can get a Mac and another x86 machine soon so I'll have all 3 OSes and their browsers to check pages on. I plan on having the ultimate browser-testing station by the end of the year.

I'm using Phoenix more and more (over IE). Mozilla (and Netscape) is just way too bloated, slow, and huge. Might try Opera one of these days.

    I'm a floating browser user!

Having been a staunch Mozilla user for some time, the latest Opera version is pipping it at the post.

I never use IE for browsing anymore - it just seems so cludgy now

In order, I use the following:

    Opera v 7.01
    Mozilla 1.01
    Phoenix 0.4
    Nescape 4.7
    Konqueror (Linux)
    IE6
    IE5 & 4 (different machines)
    Lynx

Various silly browsers from http://browsers.evolt.org .

I'd say I spend about 60 percent of my time in Opera, 30 in Moz, 5 in Phoenix and the remaining 5 between the others.

Chimera (sorry, Camino) 0.7 70% of the time. Safari v64 more and more every day though. Also have IE, OmniWeb, Netscape, Opera, Mozilla, and Konqueror at my disposal, but I mostly stick to Camino/Safari.

Opera. I have an antiquated version of MSIE installed, because some key sites I visit are written with a lot of Javascript and PHP functions that aren't optimised for Opera. I've written HTML to W3C specs for HTML, CSS, and WAI since about 1998.

    I use Opera 6. I love it.

But I have to switch to ie when using a website that uses client side scripts for pop-up windows. Also, I use ie for Hebrew language sites. Opera has some support for Hebrew. But its not as good as IE.

Heh, Opera rules in this thread it seems. :-D

My browser of choice is, of course, Opera, but I sometimes use others: Phoenix (soon to be called something else, but a rose by any other name...); IE in very rare & desperate cases (and, no I'm not proud to admit that); NS4.8 to make sure it doesn't crash; and Amaya just fun and perhaps slight masochistic tendencies.
