Web 2.0 is not a set of standards. It's a vague concept around an idea of a feeling of an ethos, but really it isn't anything so concrete as that. It's just a meaningless buzzword, and not much more than that.Originally Posted by evolet pearl

HTML5 is currently in development, and aspects of it are supported on some/most/all browsers, but it isn't finalised yet and there are many features that are not widely supported.

That was the freeze for 5.0 as Candidate Recommendation; nothing more will be added, now we have 5.1: http://www.w3.org/TR/html51/ so 5 is basically dead or awaiting fixing - maybe by 2014 they might sort-out that first stage.

Although the final recommendation may turn out to be exactly the same as this candidate recommendation, TechnoBear is right, I jumped the gun. I saw the word "Recommendation", and I saw that they started work on 5.1, and my brain came to an incorrect conclusion. Oops.

Since it wouldn't be until about 2022 is gets sorted and anywhere near a recommendation they are now doing it in small increments until 2018, or something; 5.1, 2016, etc.
