    Hi folks,

    I need some help with a script.

    I have worked on this script and I have run it through a HTML editor multiple times. I am hoping those folks with experience can help because I just cannot find out what the problem may be.

    The following page looks fine in IE.
    http://HealthcareQuestions.Homestead...ex_check2.html

    In Netscape the third column beginning with the date is either
    1. thrown over to the upper right corner of the page
    2. does not visualize beginning with "Other Stuff"
    3. crashes the bowser
    4. freezes the screen.

    I isolated the third column and put the two versions of how I wrote the script on the following pages,

    DISPLAY >> http://HealthcareQuestions.Homestead.com/index4a.html
    SCRIPT - One Table >> http://HealthcareQuestions.Homestead...mn_All150.html

    and

    DISPLAY >> http://HealthcareQuestions.Homestead.com/index4b.html
    SCRIPT - Multiple Tables >> http://HealthcareQuestions.Homestead...Tables150.html

    The Script can also be reached by clicking on the link above the "Display" columns.

    If you look at these columns in IE they look OK and reflect the 150px width of the table. But, if you look at the script in Netscape you will see the upper part (in the Multiple Table Script) adhears to this "150px" width while the lower part beginning with "More Stuff" is wider.

    When I placed all the code in the same script (the One Table or All Script) the entire column was wider than 150px in Netscape.

    As I indicated the problems occur only in Netscape.

    I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong.

    All help and suggestions are appreciated.

    Thanks,

    WP

    You could try running it through an HTML validator

    Hello,

    I appreciate all the responses. I put the script through an online validator at "HTMLworks"
    http://www.HTMLworks.com
    The script came through the validator "OK". I will check out "CSE HTML Validator" as suggested though.

    -------

    Bimjo,

    I do not know what a ".vhlmiddle class" is. Please explain what it is and what it does.

    Thanks,

    In your style sheet you define your links for the text section of your site as .vhlmiddle.

    Just as you have a style for the left & right nav columns. You have to call the style in a html tag somewhere. Like <td class="vhlmiddle"> or whatever. There is no place on your page that you ever call the style for changing the link color to red.

    I think it works in IE because (I'm guessing) you define a font color somewhere before that table and IE inherits it into the table. NS will NOT do that.

    I'd change your link styles from this:

    .vhlnavpanels a:link { color: #000000; }
    and this:
    .vhlmiddle a:link { color: #cc0000"; }

    to:
    a.vhlnavpanels.link { color: #000000; }
    and:
    a.vhlmiddle.link { color: #cc0000"; }
    (add the others as well, I left them out to save space)

    and call the style in the anchor tag for each link- <.a href="somepage.html" class="vhlmiddle">some page</a> (without the period).

    SNIP.....
    Hi Bimjo,

    I did not use style sheets when I wrote the code for the column. I suspect you did a "view source" on the page and
    may have seen code for Style Sheets. That code was probably
    from "Homestead" which provides a "WYSIWYG" editor on which I created the page. In the page editor is a feature which allows the webmaster to determine the color of links and visited links on the page.

    The code I used for each version of column is outlined on the following pages,I isolated the third column and put the two versions of how I wrote the script on the following pages,

    SCRIPT - One Table >> http://HealthcareQuestions.Homestead...mn_All150.html

    and

    SCRIPT - Multiple Tables >> http://HealthcareQuestions.Homestead...Tables150.html

    All and any help you can give me is appreciated.

    Well, I owe WP1 a huge apology. Every post I've made in this thread related to a different thread entirely, and probably searved no purpose other than confusing WP and everyone else insufferably.

    WP- I'm really not as big an idiot as this thread would make me appear.

    Please accept my red-faced apology.

    Hi Bimjo,

    Appreciate the apology but I did not take offense at anything you wrote. I just figured you were having a problem understanding what the HOMESTEAD editor was doing to the code.

    This problem has me exasperated! Just cannot figure out what is causing the problem.

    Peace,
