Grrr... I can't seem to find this. Anyone know how to change the default email client from Microsoft Outlook to Netscape Messenger 4.05?
Thanks,

I believe this is done in Internet Explorer...go to Tools --> Internet Options ---> Programs Tab.
That will only work in IE 5+, if you have IE4 then look for Internet Options in one of the menus...I can't remember which one

Well what you want to do is probably not possible...
IE will never allow you to open an NS email client when clicking a link in IE and NS won't allow you to use a non-NS client when you click an email link.

Here's what I need to do:
My friend has a program (NOT Microsoft based) that has a "Send by email" feature. When she chooses the feature, it starts up Outlook. I'm assuming it knows to start outlook, because it's the default email program. If I can somehow change the default to Netscape Messenger.. she would be able to use the feature. (She doesn't know how to use outlook, etc..)

Maybe it would be nice to post the name of the program and version of it...

The program she is using is some sort of Realty program. It is used to generate pictures and listing info for clients. She currently just prints and then faxes the info, but wants to use the "Send by email" to be able to send the info directly as an attachment.
When she uses the MS Word feature "Send to: Mail Recepient", it also defaults to outlook. Any program she has that can send email is defaulting to outlook.
So.. how do I change the default to Messenger?http://www.gimmeabuck.com

I had the problem of Netscape Messenger trying to be my default mail problem, when I wanted Outlook Express to be. Just go to the general options menu on OE and check the "make Outlook Express my default mail program" if you want it to be your default mail program...
However, I have no idea about Messenger (*shiver*)...

They aren't using Outlook Express. They have the whole Outlook program. And there doesn't seem to be any "make Outlook my default mail program" checkbox.
If it were only that simple.. grin.
So far, I recommended to my friend that she should just install the newest version of the Communicator pacakge, or switch to Outlook. She is very familiar with Netscape and is a computer novice, so she wants to stick with them... I assume re-installing the netscape software will reset the defaults. Hopefully.
Does anyone still even use Netscape/Messenger?http://www.gimmeabuck.com

Reinstalling Communicator should set Messanger as the default.
