250GB transfer: from what to what?

    Hello!

When a host offers "250 GB monthly transfer", does this mean that every time a FTP files either to or from my site it's counted? Or, is this just for site visitors who go to my site's URL's? Basically, I'm trying to develop a back-up strategy and would like to think about the impact on my monthly transfer.

    Thank you,

    Eric

It would generally mean all transfers of files to and from your hosting. The direction of the transfer has no impact on the bandwidth your site is using.

Yes FTP transfers are included in the bandwidth count.

Any type of transfer that has to do with your hosting account will count into the transfers. 250 GB is a good amount of bandwidth and if you are not hosting movies, music etc., you usually will not hit that limit.
