    Odd :hover behavior in IE

    Ok, on this CSS template the links in the tan-colored bar act funny in IE(6). Try them out, you'll see what I mean.

    Any clues?

    Why do you have an extra set of DIVs?

    <div id="subHead">
    <div>
    <a href="#">Some</a> <a href="#">Sample</a> <a href="#">Links</a> <a href="nocss.htm">No CSS</a>
    </div>
    </div>

    Good question...looking over my CSS it's apparently because I did this
    Code:
    	div#subHead {
    		height: 18px;
    		background: #9D8C6C url(images/logo_bottom.gif) no-repeat left;
    		border-top: 1px solid white;
    		border-bottom: 1px solid white;
    		}
    	div#subHead div {
    		width: 750px;
    		padding-left: 10px;
    		color: white;
    		text-align: right;
    		}
    Hmmm, not sure if that's the problem but I'll look at different ways of doing this.

    Simpler is probably better

    Try this:

    Code:
    	div#subHead {
    		height: 18px;
    		background: #9D8C6C url(images/logo_bottom.gif) no-repeat left;
    		border-top: 1px solid white;
    		border-bottom: 1px solid white;
    		width: 750px;
    		padding-left: 10px;
    		color: white;
    		text-align: right;
    		}
    Also post the rest of your CSS

    Just download the css here

    http://www.peterbailey.net/clients/is/is.css

    or the whole template from the zip file linked to on the page.

    That won't work, I can't have the #subHead DIV be 750px wide, it has to be 100%. That's why I did it the way it's done now.

    Exclamation the css

    try cleaning it up on the hover stuff

    this is to much for IE, and he is right i think..
    Code:
    code
    a, a:visited, a:active {
    color: #004B95;
    text-decoration: underline;
    }
    a:hover, a:visited:hover, a:active:hover {
    color: #9D8C6C;
    text-decoration: none;
    }
    div#subHead a, div#subHead a:visited, div#subhead a:active {
    display: inline-block;
    padding: 2px .5em;
    height: 100%;
    color: white;
    text-decoration: none;
    }
    div#subHead a:hover, div#subHead a:visited:hover, div#subhead a:active:hover {
    background-color: #CABCA2;
    color: #036;
    }
    }

    And there is some point in the order LVHA link-visited-hover-active !

    good luck
