Has anyone had an under construction site that lots of hits with almost nothing and no promotion, it has happeneed to me

My site has had 400 hits in the past month with no promotion.

Has anyone had anything similar happen to them.

I have hits on broken URL's that haven't existed for 2 years and were never promoted.

Maybe you had a really good domain name. Don't forget that a lot of search engines spider you without you promoting your site.

8 thousand hits in a month was the most all i did was post about a tournament at a forum

I have had that happen to me before. I don't remember exactly how many hits we got, but all I know is that I looked at my logs on one of my "previous" sites and it said that we were getting 800 unique visitors and about 6,000 page views per day on a site that we didn't even update for about 2 months, let alone promote for about 4 months.

My brother used to get 70-100 unique hits per day for no apparent reason whatsoever...no site promotion and basically no content.
