    Question Password Protected Site?

    How can I get a password protected site?

    I have tried doing .htaccess but it never works could someone explain how to do it and is notepad a text editor?

    NotePad is a text editor, yes.

    For authentication, there is a file called ".htpasswd" wich contains the usernames and passwords of members, like this:

    myusername:32lkjh32t3oi6y

    Where that 'junk' is their password run through the crypt function.

    There are hundreds of tutorials on how to do this though.

    how come when you go to that site to get your password crypted, each time it will give you a different value?
