i'm not from USA but i have to say something to those two liberals in this forum...
wayne and luzer you should consider moving to a country like Kambodzia, China, Cuba, maybe Iraq, North Korea or even to Vietnam if Bush wins. From my point of view you would enjoy living there - everything is everyone's property, people are all equal no matter how educated or smart they are, nobody is corrupt, and everything is soooo nice there. And of course, if you work 8 hours or 16 hours you will still earn the same. So that they can prevent people getting rich and richer. I think communism is the right political system for you.

Whoever said anything about everything being everyone's property?

Only things I mentioned would make services cheaper and less expensive for the government to administer allowing them to lower their budgets and return money into the hands of the people.

I have never advocated taking anything away from anyone and giving it to another. If we had a flat 15-20% tax then everyone would benefit and the government would still be able to function. I know I would like it because it would be like an 18% raise if the tax raise 20%. Unfortunately we don't. If this is communism then I am all for it.

Do you think it is not a good idea for the government to spend $1000.00 making sure people are healthy per year instead of the $10,000 they are now spending on these same people when they get sick? That is a 90% savings. The President that does that, and can claims a 50-90% reduction in government medical spending is assured a second term. But if this is communism than I am all for it.

My arguments are not about communism or even socialism, it is about politicians coming up with long term solutions and workable plans instead of bowing to special interest groups because they have millions worth of campaign donations. A government "By the People, For the People" is what it says in the Constitution. No where does it say "By the People, For the Corporations".

There are many programs to improve in the government and if they were improved it would make a better life for all, rich and poor and might just work to eliminate some poverty and make life better for millions. I never once said that Bill Gates, Donald Trump and Steve Case had to give their money to the poor. I just stated they needed less help from the government in the form of tax breaks than the local bus driver, janitor or the young waitress.

Besides none of the countries you mentioned are true Communist Societies. They are based upon the socialism of the old Soviet Union and are more accurately called Totalitarian Dictatorships. In a true communist society there would be no need for a government because the individuals of the society would protect and assist each other in all their needs.

I am not talking about cultural and social upheavel, I am talking about fixing what is broke and not touching what isn't. That is a long way from Communism.

i have been to vietnam and it was not the tourist season. oh yes, that was when george w was gracious enough to give up his seat on the transport. he and his buddy quayle stayed home to guard the nation. good for them.

this place is for all of us.

the diversity of views is vital to the continuation of democracy, or whatever this is.

many of the view of both sides appeal to me. neither is all correct or all wrong. same with me.

you say "" and i say ''. (just a little php for LuZeR and TWTCommish who's programming advice i often seek and almost always follow.) it does make a difference. it keeps us from being redundant.

but the one thing we might just want to agree on is the right to disagree.

    peace

ok wayne, first i have to tell you i'm not liberal democrat nor conservative..i'm not even from the States...i could say i'm somekind of socialdemocrat..therefore i am in favor of work force..
i have to say i agree with you about taxes on poor or middle class people. taxes are high and that's a fact and not only in the States also here in Europe. and they should be lowered(significatly).

secondly, i think i misunderstood you..reading your and Luzer's post i somehow got the impression that you two are in someway anti-capitalistic. now i see that's not all true..
i just believe that everyone should have as much as he deserves and ears. if someone works hard, he should be well paid regarding what he does(janitor, cook, clerk, assistant, ceo..). However, I must say that high taxes on big companies and corporation could slower their progress. And consequently the progress of the economy in a country.
And I believe smaller companies should pay only minimum tax and government should support them in their efforts for becoming bigger.
I also think that every corporation that doesn't pay their workers well, is a bad corporation. These kind of corporations and companies probably don't know that happy and satisfied worker is the key to success.

I can't say anything more about taxes, cause I don't know how you have these things organised in the States.
But I can tell you that you should be very satisfied with you government(democratic or republican), because you have strong economy, open society, rather high social standards etc. And most important, I think that both two parties in the States know what democracy means, but if you take a look in Eastern Europe you will find lots of parties which still believe that we live in one-party system(socialism). I lived in a socialist republic, therefore I very well know what socialism-communism means and how it operates.
I really think it's not natural to make people equal cause they never can be. Still I believe that true capitalist know how valuable good workers are.

What ever ticket Joe Liberman is on will be the vote I give. I personally think that liberman should run independently. He is the man for president.

Here is something you might find interesting.

I live in a "Republican" Stronghold. Yesterday (Maybe it was Wednesday), **** Cheney was here to speak. Several hundred people went to the rally. It was supposed to be uplifting and moving, don't know I was at work.

Anyway I know quite a few people up here, even on a mailing list with about 120 people who live in my area, and I don't know a single person who is voting for Bush. Now that is something because this area has only voted against the Republican's twice before... 1992 and 1996. Even with that, the two city councils, our state senator, our state representative, the school boards, our county supervisor, and many other public positions are consistantly and predominantly held by Republicans.

That's pretty wild...but things like that happen. I live in a major democratic stronghold and now and then the republicans will actually win.

    <<He did help the Internet considerably...that's a good sign>>

OK, he claimed to "invent" the Internet. Besides, we don't need a president to boost the e-conomy. We need someone to take care of other issues and let the net take its course. Also, I think that although Bush probably knows nothing about the net he may do a good job of regulating it.

Neither are good in my opinion, however. Pretty sad selection to choose from.

    I'm not anti-capitalist, I'm anti-corporatist... anti-oligarchy... anti-fascist.

I could just as easily suggest that conservatives move to Iran or something where traditional values will be upheld! Of course it's an absurd argument.

I'll probably move to Germany or Sweden.

Another thing: about Cuba. Fidel Castro just offered to send 500 Americans to medical school in Cuba for no cost, provided they agree to go back to poor areas in the U.S. to be doctors. You may not like the politics or repression there, but they are beyond the U.S. in many ways, like universal health care.
