    I have been giving honest reviews of other sites. My post has not been unlocked yet. Whats happening I followed the 3:1 ratio rule and have been coming back to review other sites. I would like my site reviewed (good or bad) www.jimswebstuff.com

    ~~~ This site is approved ~~~
    The site looked good but it seems to plain. Also the content looks static which would make it hard to update especially if you get a large collection of links.
    Overall the colors are good and the site will work in all browsers even Netscape 2 and up.
    This is a very nice site, with lots of useful info! Although, please consider the following:
    1) I agree about the links at the top and bottom. They would look good in the middle!
    2) I don't like the background, I think a plain color would look better. Also, The grey sidebars would look better a different color.
    3) Please remember that these are just my opinions. Content is much better/useful than design.
    Kepp it up!
    Well I think there is lacking a little introduction to your site on the index page. When I went to look at it I didn't really know what it was I had stumbled on. Because there were links to "Tanya's Gift shoppe", "Shields up!", Webmaster resources and Book stores.
    You should make a category for web developing withUL TYPE=SQUARE>
    <LI>Webmaster resources
    <LI>Html editors
    <LI>web design
    <LI>Cgi/Perl
    <LI>affiliates
    <LI>Web tools
    <LI>Hosting and so on...
    </UL>
    And then another category or to for all the other stuff. Just a suggestion.
    My advice is to remove the small text links at the top and put them in a larger font at the center of the page. With a description to each category.
    I find the navigation at the top and bottom hard to read and they look like they have been squashed together.I wouldn't go with the effect that you get when you hover the cursor over the text links. Try maybe changing it out with the effect that underlines instead of a background color effect... Hope you know what I mean.
    Nice fast download time. The menus look nice on the page. Your site is definately a useful place to stop by.
    I'm not sure if I know what you mean by the center. You mean in the very center of the page? I thought Links to Web Site Resources was a pretty good description But thanks for the input I will give it some thought and try to implement some of the changes suggested. I guess I should try to give more of an intro to my site. The thought of putting the navigation down the left side with descriptions comes to mind. What do you think?
    Thanks for your input.
    It means a lot!
    Hi James,
    I've got a couple of comments on the site...
    1) I like the background - though it would be nice if there was a variety of words - eg HTML, PHP, Javascript etc
    2) I don't like the grey columns - they are UGLY! I would suggest you consider ditching them and maybe going for some form of left hand traditional navigation - they give the site a very claustrophobic (sp?) feel to it
    3) Having the text centered and running between the columns and split up by banner adds makes it look like a porn site...
    4) I don't think you need to repeat the links at the top and bottom of the page, also I would drop the case, they are a bit loud
    5) You change between serif and non-serif fonts and up and down sizes for no apparent reason - this makes the page look messy
    6) I like your logo
    7) Re the HTML page, I would get rid of the logos and reorgainise it - there is no real flow to it - it looks like where I keep my bills on my fridge door - I can never find the bill I had to pay yesterday...this page really reminds me of my fridge
    8)I couldn't find a privacy statement - a lot of people will not do anything unless there is one there.
    Hope some of the above is of help
    Dr Gonzo
    Thanks Dr Gonzo I think I might take some of your advice. On the "HTML" page I should ditch the logos for the links? I will post in a couple of days when I have had time to reorganize the site a little better. This site has been through a lot so there may be a need to review the fonts (among other things) as you mentioned.
    Thanks for your comments and suggestions.
    1) I like the background - which is rare for me
    2) I wouldn't have an option to search the web - why bother? It takes people away from your site.
    3) It says it was last updated in 1970...
    4) I find the text in the blue boxes a little hard to read (too small, and black on blue).
    5) When one of the links on the left hand menu bar has been visisted, it goes red - difficult to read on orange.
    6) I wouldn't bother with showing the counter on every page - especially when sometimes it's quite low.
    - The logo could be more prominent, better designed, and bigger.
    - Fix the date thing and get rid of the counter.
    - I would suggest make the orange a bit lighter, so the contrast between blue and it is better. It's uncomfortable looking at the links.
    - Rounded corners would be nice. However, that's kind of overused nowadays, so your decision.
    Some redesigns will be necessary:
    1) the nav images on the top should have a smaller font
    2) whereas the main font size must be increased... it's very hard - even for me - to read the entire text.
    3) a better color scheme like black on white blue or very light green on dark blue but not light green on light blue. that's too hard to read.
    4) then let us have a look
    nice layout..but the left side links are difficult to read - the bg blue is too close in colour to the links' explanations' colour.
    I am not a web master so my feedback is from a novice who is slowly learning. I have been working on developing 3 web sites over the last 8 months. I found your site very informative and a lot of information that I am personally interested in. However, I don't like the silver bottons and I felt like there was too much information on the frontpage. Would there be a way to make some of the sidebars into popup giving more information.
    Overall, I think that you have a very good website and I have bookmarked it for further review and will pass it along to friends. Good luck. sdeaglewoman
