Does anyone ever use this button? I have never seen anyone use it. When I type capital A, I hold the left shift button down with my pinkie finger and type A with my ring finger.
So who types the right way?

I use the right one sometimes, but I usually use the left because it is easier to find on the keyboard without looking...

I use the right shift key when I'm typing and I'm pressing keys to the right hand side if the keyboard, In fact I have just noticed I press it all the time when typing to get capitals. I seem to have my little finger on the right hand hovering above it all the time.
btw: I'm left handed and I never use the left shift key nless I'm pressing shift and another key to do a command, e.g 'shift' and 'F7' .....

I'm kind of ampedextrius.
I write left-handed, but do most other things with my right hand.
Anyway, I just the right shift button whenever I need to capitalize a letter I'm typing with my right hand.

I thought the right shift button was supposed to be used for the keys on the left side of the keyboard...such as capital Q would be right shift and "q".
I guess I am not the only one then...
A friend of mine taps Caps Lock for each capital then taps it again when he is done with the first letter. I think I used to do this myself.

As far as I know, you are supposed to use the right shift button when you are typing capitals(or other characters requiring the shift button) with your left hand, and the left shift button when you are typing capitals with your right hand. That is how I learned to type and that is how I do it.

I had to check, I didn't know how I type. I type well over 100 words a minute, not traditionally though, I have a weird little quasi style. Anyways I've discovered I use the right shift exclusively. Its the left shift that I never use.
Chris
oh and I'm right handed.

I try to stay away from the right shift button because I tend to hit the Enter button instead (they are both almost the same size on my keyboard).
I am a lefty who writes and eats left and does everything else right. (check out the pun...at least I think it's a pun...) So I guess I am somewhat ambidextrous.Isaiah Walter

I use it a lot for capitals, not as much as the left one though. I also use it to shift some of the number keys.

I think that the right shift button comes from typewriters before the left shift button was "invented". Who knows?

I'm also ampedextrius. I write with my left but play all sports with me right (except snooker/pool which I play with my left). Bit of a weird one here
But I use both shift buttons the same amount as each other.

Do they still teach typing in school?
I'm surprised that more people don't type with two hands, using the right shift button for capitols and other characters typed with the left hand. Isn't that the way its supposed to be??

Looks like we have a good deal of ambidextrious people here, myself included
Hmm.. watching as I type it seems as though I use the left shift key more than the right one. It just depends on the position of the letters and where my hands are on the keyboard. I never really gave it much thought

I type with both hands. And they taught typing in my school. But I got hooked on text based multiplayer games long before I took a typing class and if anyone else has played a mud they're an excellent way to get fast at typing.
As far as the shift. Like I said I use the right shift exclusively. Why? Well I think it is because what else am I going to do with my right pinky? You only are supposed to use your right pinky for question marks and quotes and the like. Which means its not often used. But I dont even use it for that. I use my right pinky for 2 things. The right shift, and the enter key. Even question marks I type by holding the right shift with my pinky and the question mark with my right ring finger. My left pinky however I need to type my a's, which tend to be capitalized alot. I don't know. But this is kinda interesting, people just type differently.

Wow, I just realized that I type the comma (,) with my index finger, the period with my middle finger, and the slash (/) with my ring finger.
A typing habit that I have is that I never use the number keys that are above the letters. I always use the keypad. I can type any number on the keypad without looking.

lol
I have an AZERTY so I don't have to hit the shift for
I use the left shift all the time, except dots, slashes and the question mark, cuz they are right beside the right one. SO DON'T REMOVE THAT KEY
