A friend of mine has tried his hand at web designing. He has created a site for his dads business using FP2000. He has asked me to give him some advice and as a site point member and a relative newbie myself, I thought I would ask you guys. Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

Pretty extensive site for first attempt.

    1. Bin the entrance page, it doesn't serve any purpose and the animated gif takes forever to load.

    2. I would try and do away with the frames on the main site if possible. Especially as your links are text and it doesn't matter if they have to load for each page.

    3. The large title area on each page doesn't seem to serve any purpose, replace it with the navigation panel. The moving text on the home page should go too, also serves no real purpose, just adds to load time.

    4. I would make a simple navigation bar which you can put on every page. I've made a rough example for you here:
http://www.gods101webdesign.com/dev/beh/beh.htm which you are welcome to use, ditto the graphic. If you put this table at the top of every page it will add less than 3 seconds to the load time and allow you to do away with the frame making a nicer looking site.

    5. The product pictures are a good compromise between quality and load time - I wouldn't change the pages below the title bar as I think they are well done.

    7. What happened to 6?

    Hope that helps...

    Peter

(If your friend wants a PSD of the title or navbar send me an e-mail)

I agree, get rid of the frames. Also get rid of the clouds background. Your rollovers are white on mouseover which are hard to see. Very good for first try. Very nice of Peter to offer the graphics and navigation layout.
