Make a background tile in CSS

Bah. For the life of me I cannot remember.. how does one make a background tile in CSS?

The background should repeat by default. It's only if you don't want it repeating that you need to use the background-repeat rules.

As vgarcia says, backgrounds repeat (both x & y) as default, but it appears that specifying x or y means that the background only repeats in the direction specified.

Thanks for that tip Dale, I wasn't aware of it
