I know this is a little early, but is everyone liking it? I have to ask because it's my home country thats hosting it

I thought the lighting of the torch was pretty neat

I saw it briefly this morning before heading out the door to class. What I did catch of it was really neat. I also heard something about there being sharks in Sydney harbor where the triathlon is to be held!

Was Cathy Freeman that little Annie look-a-like?

I think it's a shame that the opening ceremonies are getting so big, nice to have a bit of a show, but it must have cost a fortune.

Not too keen on the olympics, we only have 4 (sometimes 5) terrestrial channels in the UK and now half of them will be taken up with sport all the time.

I also think that the number of sports being included is getting silly too.

    So there!

    hmmm ok...

USA, Australia and I think China had the biggest teams, which was pretty cool, I wonder which countries will do will this year.

Though bigger doesnt always mean better.

I'm in the USA so we don't get to see any of the Olympics live. But the first night there on is tonight, where we get to see the torch being lit. I've seen the USA mens and womens soccer though, since they started that sport a little early. I love the Olympics

Honestly, I'm not very exicted about the Olympics. Don't know why, but I will try to catch some games while they're on.

It really bugs me how delayed everything is. The 18 hour difference does make things hard. If an event finishes at 6 PM there, it is 4 AM in California. So ABC airs the 6 PM event at 6 PM (or 8PM) here, 14 hours later.

    Sigh.

All I've seen of the Olympics so far is the opening ceremony with athletes from different countries carrying their flags, singing, etc. Booorrring.

Cathy freeman an "annie" lookalike? not likely

Cathy Freeman is our star Aboriginal 400m runner... your referring to the singing girl.... I'm talking about the one who lit the flame...

anyway, its all very cool and as things stand we are beating the US in the medal count YAY

I hate the delay too. NBC aired it last night, and you could tell that some of it was edited (or maybe it was just me...). BTW - was it supposed to take that long for the torch thing to start moving?
