Hard to do if you are active at several Social Media sites. You have to leave some time in your schedule for work, after all.
In my experience, I find the best way to reach new people is through comments on your contact's posts. Sharing is good, but it only lets your friends and original poster know about what you have shared. Likes are great way to keep connections and can possibly expand your network if you 'like' the comments of others in a post, but just liking a friends post--I don't see how that expands your network. Same as retweets on twitter.

Moreover, shares and retweets may not post anything from you that your friends probably haven't already seen elsewhere.

This is like gathering people and bring them to the location that you sell products and this is very difficult and time consuming job.
If you are a website owner make sure that the content of your site are carefully examine and your niche are well presented.
People nowadays are mad most of us do not want to read anymore we wanted instead to hear and see that's why youtube or video streaming sites are very popular.
Email marketing nowadays are less effective but can be used if your list are clean and gathered carefully and not just harvested somewhere.

Make your website user friendly and easy to find the navigation menu to maintain the bounce rate low and increase the pageviews high

Put them together will be effective marketing something.

Create social media account and interact people with the same interest create facebook fanpage use excellent images, videos and make them like your page.

You just choose a number of social networks, create publics there and start posting. Those might be reposts from your website, some news related to the field you work in, some engaging stuff like questionnaires, votings etc. Actually, its really time consuming, lots of companies hire SMO-specialists for that. However, it all depends on the scope of work which is to be done.

Keep your fan pages and panels updated with regular news and blogs, also some pictures, post some awesome content that is of users choice so that they keep coming back to your site for reading and getting updated, follow the big sharks in the niche and get followed back, make retweets for the posts on the twitter by big sharks, and build a healthy contacts with them on gtalk or ymessenger, tell the visitors to subscribe your blog or fan page so that they can get the updates right at their PC or laptop wherever they are, Enable comments on the blog posts so that the public can share their view and this is how you can get a chance to know what they want so that you cna publish that later.
These are some of the effective techniques to stay live on social media.

Generally you have to post at least once a day to be present. You go from there ... cause you can update up to 10 - 20 times / day your status.

Strategies differ from one platform to another. For Twitter: tweet regular interesting tweets. Follow influencers or your target audience. But, remember not to tweet too many.
For Facebook: Add people and share updates about your product/service from time to time. Also you can start FB ads. For LinkedIn: Connect with important people, add yourself to groups and initiate or take part in discussions. Still not sure with Google+ though as it is relatively new.

If you've got a blog that updates regularly, one trick is the set up RSS feeds between your blog, Facebook and Twitter so that whenever your blog updates (and you can schedule these posts of course), your social media updates shortly afterwards, keeping your social profile active - even if all you're really doing is updating a blog.

To maintain social media activities you need to be active on social networking websites like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, clipix etc. Sharing your own content, sharing other people's content is a way to get noticed at social media websites. on twitter you can use hashtags, at facebook you can use @username OR pagename. you can use services like buffer to manage your tweets, you can use engag which integrates almost all popular social networking platform at one place.

<snip> Expand onto sites where your audience already is. Learn what they care about, and what they respond to most. The more you know about your readers' social media habits, the easier it is to tailor and post compelling content.use social sites like hoot suite .

I believe we have squeezed the last ounce of breath out of this topic as it is beginning to wheeze with repetitiveness.
