Invoke an Application from IE?

Does anyone know if it's possible to launch an application from IE, without the "Save File To..."..."Open" Dialog box appearing?

I'd steer well clear of any kind of reading client files, invoking their applications, etc. It's highly insecure, you'll peeve off a lot of your users who will wonder what is going on with their PCs, and it's just not a good thing in general.

Exactly, the only reason to include a script like that is if you want to warn/inform people that they should visit Windows update more frequently

Shot peeps. I actually need it for my corporate Intranet. It's full of apps all over the show, and my users are already getting peeved off because they have to go through the mission of clicking Open all the time. Everyone always wants things simpler.... kinda annoying.
