    Short cut script

    Hi was hoping you could help me out. I have the scripts that create bookmarks and home page. Now I am looking for a script that will be as a link that will put a short cut icon on desk top when clicked... Thank you. John

    Fwiw, I doubt that there is a way do what you are trying to do without the use of a scripting/programming language more powerful than javascript.
    (This is where someone steps in and proves me wrong )

    I assume that the linked page is just an example, but it gives us an idea about your coding skills.

    You should add...

    Code:
    && (navigator.platform.indexOf('Win') != -1)
    to you Bookmark script sniffer.
    The bookmark script you've used (window.external) is only supported by IE/Windows. There is no point in offering a feature that won't work for some visitors.

    Also, you should change...
    Code:
    cursor: hand;

    to

    cursor: pointer;
    ...as 'pointer' is the 'correct' (read: recommended/more widely supported) method.

    It does seem odd that you've used certain forward-thinking methods in your code (such as <strong> instead of <b>), but still have so much deprecated code and IE-only code in there too.
