Do any other Napster users that use IE 5.5 find that IE crashes constantly if Napster is running at the same time as it?

I'm trying to find a place to download IE 5.01 in hopes that it's because of IE 5.5 (doesnt happen with NS).

If that doesn't happen to you, could you tell me where I could get a IE 5.01 download?

    thanks a lot,

    -chuck

I use IE5 all the time with Napster and nother ever wrong happens (like crashes). You might want to report this to Napster, because I'm sure they could fix the problem or something. Where can you get IE5? I know for a fact that there is a site that has every version of every browser available for download, but I can't remember the URL. I know I found the link on SitePoint though. Ask Quinn (d3v)...

If you had an earlier version of IE on your system before installing IE 5.5, you should be able to go to Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs, select Internet Explorer, and click Add/Remove, which should give you an option to revert to a previous version of IE installed on your system.

Although Napster will be shutdown soon, I could care less. I can always connect from a smorgasboard of Napster servers via Napigator and my problem is solved. Go ahead, shut down Napster. See if I care.

I've got another idea what it could be..

Word of advice to you all (those blind enough to actually think microsoft could be decent):

DON'T even try the "Personal Web Server" program that comes with Win98 SE. It's a piece of junk that will crash your system everytime you attempt to do something beyond starting/stopping it.

mjames: want to tell me a little about napigator?

Hmm I use this everyday on two different Win98 SE computers and never have a problem with it. In fact its running at this moment on the machine I am currently using.

Really? Well, the installation is nearly 100% automated as far as I can recall, so I don't think I did anything to mess it up then..

Other than turning it on or off, if I try to use any of the options it gives me... it freezes, or resets the computer. No error messages or anything, I've got no clue why it's doing that

If it does work, I wouldn't mind trying it...

I have IE 5.5 and Napster and have no problems. If I was you I would reinstall Napster and not IE cuz Napster is alpha-beta ware like ICQ. It contains lot of errors.

Napigator lets you connect to many napster servers. Unless each one is shut down, you can have napster forever and it will work fine

Oh - Napigator also lets you find a fast server...or one that has lots of music.

Might be why it isn't crashing then.. This means it was never properly installed. Double check to make sure though.. and I forget to put Microsoft at the beginning.. Look under "MIcrosoft Personal Web Server".

Other than that there is no way to automatically uninstall the application as it is system level code.

Napigator allows you to chose from an assortment of Napster servers. Basically, when the central Napster server shuts down, you should still be able to log onto another server. As Justin said, it's at napigator.com. I have Napgitor, along with GNutella, and Scour Exchange all installed as backup.
