How to deal with some rebel users on my boards?

    Hello,
I have a pretty visited and posted web board, with over 1,000 posts daily.
The problem that I have is that there are some kiddies with too much time in their hands that all they do is messing in my board all day. Is getting out of control and I need suggestions on how to deal with them.
I tried banning their accounts, but Is as easily as they disconnect from the net, get a new IP and create a new account. And now some of them are now against the rules and screaming "dictator!!" en getting personal with me, because I try to have some order on my boards.
Is really difficult to deal with these kids, because I really donít have that much time to be verifying every time they create a new account.
Any of you experts would recommend me what to do?

    Thanks
    Guillermo

Set good rules / community standards. Take screen shots, and document everything, call / email there ISP, chances are they are breaking the ISP TOS, you can get them booted. I have had to do that for just one user, its not fun, but it got the point across.

make it so new users have to validate their email address. then they will eventaully get sick of siging up for free email accounts just to spam your forum. Also add a couple mods that are oniline a lot to delete every post they make.

I would ban them and then make registrations have to be approved. I would get some of my trusted moderators and staff members help approve new memberships to take some of the burden off. You could also ban the e-mails they are signing up with, or their providor.

    Hey pulsorocker,

Try this article on SitePoint -- it has some great tips for promoting value and friendliness within your community. There are a few other articles that might be of use in SitePoint's Community Building section.

    Hope this helps,

i had problems similiar to this before

validating emails is a great way to discourage them but personally i would contact their isp - isp's should take this seriously and there school/father or whoever will kick their ***

i know its hassle phoning the isp etc but it will be worth it and will discurage the other trouble makers from doing anthing against your board
