Ok, just to justify my post I'm glad to have another chat with the experts session and related to a big unknown for me such as node.js. I simply heard about the potential use and saw some examples but never used it and I'm eager to listen.

Who me? Node.js rules.

Being able to program the client and server in the same language and sharing the code between them makes a lot of sense to me.
The momentum it's gained for a fairly early project is impressive, my main hesitation to jumping right in is that the libraries are nowhere near as mature as the other major languages/frameworks.

And, the code required still isn't as enjoyable / clean to write as what I'm doing at the moment with Ruby on Rails.
Given time, and some nice frameworks and libraries I could be swayed towards Node.js as a primary stack.

Rather interested in finding out a bit more about node.js myself, I believe it might be able to (massively) help with one of my personal projects.
