Hi,
I'm just wondering what the conversion rate is for web designers on their sites.
For example how many hits are their design sites getting, and how many jobs are they getting from these hits.

Currently working on three contracts. Still no website advertising my services. My customers come first. I don't rely on the Internet to bring my business. I go out and talk to people and always bring up what I do. This leads to more in depth conversation like the one I had last night with a security company. They want a website and the cheapest they have been quoted was $5000 a month for design, hosting and maintenance. They were surprised I could do the same thing for approximately $600 a year given they only want a brochure site at this time. Potential contract #4.
You have to sell yourself and maybe rely on your website as a backup but don't depend on the Internet to drive sells your way because there are hundreds of thousands if not millions of people advertising webdesign on the Internet.

Yeah, that is what I thought.
All my work has come through friends or me going out and actively seeking it.
I guess a site is just handy to point people at to look at the work you've already done. For example it's hard even to quote prices on your design site because there are so many factors.
