Question about Mysql and Performance with Query

    Hi

Basically, I wanted to know if there is a difference in performance/resources used, in having a website with 20,000 rows to query through and having the paging display 20 instead of 40 rows

Is it wiser to search that many records and display 20 at a time, or does it not matter?

    Thanks

I personally would advise some form of caching. Do the query once and then save the output down to a file and simply include that file when someone wants to see it.

If someone queries only 20 rows then the resources should be less. But then if someone decides to see the next 20 anyway you not really saving much.
