For ex: if your target keyword is "home jobs" then

Go for broad then do anchor text for your main keyword as suggested by "TheProgrammer"

Exact keywords mean that the people who are searching exact keywords like "fashion trends".This is called the exact keyword.
Broad keywords search means when people search "fashion trends of 2012 in America " .Than this is called broad keywords .
There is more competition in the exact keywords than broad keyword .
Well, it certainly depends on what do you want to promote by linking. If its a certain post or a sub category then you can use exact keyword as an anchor text. Whereas if you want to promote the home page or major categories, you could broader keyword in the anchor text. So, it all depends on what do you want to target.
Artificial backlink creation is old hat. Backlinks have lost much of their influence, and will continue to fall in importance.
Your joining this site in a futile attempt to create 4 links from your signature won't do you any good.

I would recommend you to work on key phrases that has your main target keywords in it. This way you get more value for your SEO efforts. Search engine not just understands your efforts put on the anchor texts, it also gives value to the words in your anchor text. For example, when you target "electrical appliances Sydney" you would obviously get better rank for the anchor text, at the same time you may be ranked in 3rd or 4th or 5th page for the keyword "Electrical appliances" too. Which makes the job then easier.
After Google Penguin update...you need to choose your anchor text very smartly..don't generate lots of links with same kyewords..try to use keywords like SEO services, seo service in india, affordabel seo services in india and so on.

Please, no more posts saying "broad keywords" or "exact keywords" without explaining why you believe that's the better option. Please give your reasons for your choice.

Do Long Tail Keyword helps in better ranking of site?
I think you're looking at this backwards... the terms are what you rank for and the further down into the "tail" you go, the easier it tends to be to secure a spot.

I will suggest you to use broad keywords now people mostly look for specific result they want because they know using a single word will give them results but may be they will not give them what they were expecting so its better to use long tail keywords.
Exact keywords are too generic and it has a high competition. And broad or long tail keyword are good. If you want you can mix both. Its important to determine the competition of the keywords to help you rank it easily.
Use Long Tail Keywords its a better and easy for get high rank in search engine. As a Anchor text you can use your link with exact and Broad keywords.
