    P3p

Since Internet Explorer 6.0 was released, P3P found a spotlight. This privacy protocol is supposed to allow the end user to take back control of their system in regards to cookies.

So, I have a few questions for you:

    1) Do you feel this was properly implemented?

    2) Do you think it will help with the usability of your site in the long run?

    3) Do you have and updated P3P privacy policy for your site?

    4) What is your browser setting for this technology?

    Re: P3p

    1) No. A lot of e-commerce systems have no way for the end user to send the P3P headers and the spec is cryptic beyond belief. This can drive one to use sessionid's in URLs, opening possible security holes.

2)I'm not sure how it's supposed to help usability. As far as privacy, I think the paranoia about cookies is unjustified, especially in these days of Total Information Awareness (tm).

3.No. I wrestled with IBM's buggy editor for a while and gave up. Just a direct human readable privacy policy.

4.None of my Mac browsers offer this "feature"

I've read about this a while back, I must admit that I have never really thought about it after that. I havn't seen any P3P-stuff on any of the sites I visit.

It's a great idea , but are people actually using this ?
