Just thought I'd ask seeing as I will become a father for the first time in the next 8 weeks!!!! Not sure how life's gonna change, but I know it will. Anyone else have children?

I don't think many of the people here are even old enough to have kids![]()
I have three kids... 2 from my previous marriage and a soon to be stepson.
My kids are 8 and 4 and my stepson is 5.
If your just having kids forget about sleep for about the next year and after that forget about extra money and time off because it is never going to happen. There is always one emergency or another.
But even with that, Kids are great.

Heck, most of us ARE kids. Congratulations Adam...any idea what the child will be named?
Don't have them. Don't want them.

Any reason Martin? Just curious, since you seem so blunt about it.I love kids...a pain, yes. But a joy as well.
I just don't like kids. They are kinda annoying and having my own would limit my freedom too much. Maybe i'll change my mind someday.
I've got a 9 month old son, with another due in December. Kids are great. I can't enen imagine my life now without my son.

Understandable...for the same reasons you listed I'll be taking my time with marriage and kids, but I definetly want to pass what I've learned onto a child. And of course, with the religious aspect of things its encouraged further. There's definetly something to be said for a more carefree lifestyle as a bachelor (even now I can picture the advantaged), though.

I want to get married, but I don't want to have kids. I figure I'll get married as soon as I find the right woman, whether that's next month or in 20 years.Originally posted by TWTCommish

Oh, ok. Well personally I love kids, but can understand how they're annoying. As most of us know, sibling relationships are always love and hate, depending on what's happened recently.

Ohhh congratulations!! ENJOY that first year!! LOL! The favorite age for me is 3 months...they are usually fitting well into their eating and sleeping schedule pretty good by then, and also they just arent quite as fragile as newborn but will grin, etc. at that age. Be sure to let us know how things go..Get ready pops! One last thought?? BURP the baby after every ounce or so when feeding at first!Originally posted by adamturner

That's a good point. I do notice, however, that the first few days after the baby is brought home/is born are quite quiet in my household...usually because the baby is sleeping most of the time. It's a nice peaceful time that first week or so.
And then "it" grows up!
Thanks for the tip, I'm sure i'll need it.Originally posted by HostCaters
