I have several domains that i'm working on (slowly, but surely) and hope to bring them together as a network.

What I would really appreciate is for you folks to help me come up with a name for it. There are already a good few of them out there like Sitepoint, WebDevHQ, WebDevPortal, Webmasters Network.

The domains that I will have as part of the network are:
    webmasterswork.com
    webdesignreviews.com
    digitalagedesigns.com
    resources-webmasters.com
    internet-marketing-solutions.com

Can anyone think of a good name that will bring these sites together well?

If I choose to use your idea for the name I will give you banner impressions once the network is up and running.

Well they are all related to Web Development

webmasterswork.com - jobs related to web development
    webdesignreviews.com - self explanitory
digitalagedesigns.com - gallery of well designed web sites
    resources-webmasters.com - resources for webmasters
internet-marketing-solutions.com - resources for web site promotion

Has nobody got any ideas? Anything at all will be considered.

What about something like "The Web Developers Directory" or something similar?

Do you think I should register a seperate domain name for the main site also?

    Was thinking about something like
    webdevsdirectory.com
    webdevsdir.com
    webdevsnetwork.com

    Your thoughts please?

I think "Developer's Choice" or "Developer's Guide" would be good overall network names. Developer's Choice sounds like a very high-quality name that doesn't admit just any webmaster-related site.

developerschoice.com and webdeveloperschoice.com are both taken

webdevschoice.com is available. Doesn't sound as professional though
    Neither does thedeveloperschoice.com

In my opinion, it seems like all of the current Webmaster sites besides SitePoint (usually--sometimes they're too serious though) put their writers through 6 months of torture and then sit them down with a computer and they begin to type. There are too many technical writers who talk like this:

Once you have completed the task of creating the .wml file, do not open up your text editor preferred by yourself. Instead of opening up your text editor preferred by yourself, open up the directory which holds your text editor preferred by yourself, and type the following string at the root command prompt: ls.

(note repetetion, bad grammar, lack of quotes, and the overall feel: it's "bored" or "I just gotta get this done quick so I get my big paycheck from Wrox")

I think some fun is needed in the Webmaster/technical writing world!! And you can begin by naming your network something "cool," like Slashdot or Freshmeat or kuro5hin. Whenever I'm telling people to use fun or out-of-the-ordinary names, I point to Yahoo!, Amazon, Excite, Ask Jeeves, Napster, Linux, etc etc. What if they were named Searchable!Directory.com, BuyBooks.com, SearchEnginesSource.com, Ask-A-Question.com, MusicPiracy, Free-OS, respectively. Would they be successful? I doubt it!

Right now I'm thinking of fun names and I'll get back to ya as soon as I find a couple good ones.

    Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh!!
I came up with a funny one that could be marketed very well. DevMeat.com - "Get to the meat of it" as in get to the good part (your site).

Well if you agree with me that funny domains are good, that domain might be a good start.

Sparkie... love the name, love the tagline, but the domain is too long! There is a shorter version however: devcompass.com, and it could be used in the same way. You still deserve credit for it though.

Elledan: the link works, SitePoint didn't change anything about the chat room as far as I know. It's the same link they use on the bottom of each page, where it says "Community Chat". I don't know if I am missing something or what.

Sparkie: devlink.com, devmap.com, and resourcenetwork.com are all taken, and according to their whois listings they've been taken for several years.

KeithMcL: have you figured out a name yet or are you hoping for more suggestions? I can keep looking for more if you want.

Really? I checked those out on 000Domains' WHOIS listing, which showed that they were all available. Oops. Sorry Keith, didn't mean to get your hopes up!

I also checked them out with 000Domains' search and all three were all taken, some as early as '95/'96. Don't know why they showed up as available for you. They're good names, someone just got to them first.
