Being involved with Social Media quite a long time especially with Facebook and I think best thing is to get genuine and real likes on your Facebook Pages helps to maintain stability and good return benefits. Although software or ad on Facebook Pages works but they only rest to the just likes not real sale/purchase game. Go for regular updates on you site daily that meets to the needs of general customers/users.

I have used such software like youlikehits and many more others but after getting like I search some people profiles and shocked to see that most profiles are fake and are not created to get facebook likes, so waste of time and money as well by using such software. Instead use manual postings like go to relevant forums and post and encourage people to like your fan page.

Very few end users go out seeking a social account to follow as it defies the purpose of the connection. For the vast majority of instances either you're already on someone's radar and they are following you to keep up / connect / affirm or your content is discovered through the network and they want to see more.

Thanks everyone for your very helpful information. It's a very interesting space.
We are just setting up our social media stuff for our software start up that uses a Free Smartphone App to save people power and money and improve fire and electrical safety around the globe. It's becoming clear to me that we must manage the social media our selves to get the best result from this level of interaction with our customers. That's fine and I agree with it- we would like some advice on the best way to get the FB, Twitter, YouTube, our website, blog feeds etc all linked up and humming along together- feeding off each other through our social media networks and community forums etc.
Any thoughts anyone?

Twitter, you may want to type in searches that relate to your location or niche etc. Then start following folks that you find. People tend to repay the favour and follow you. Dont go follow happy in one session. wait a hour or two then add 5-10 more (or less). you dont want to get hit with a ban.

Facebook find facebook groups that cater to your niche that are for networking. (ie your town businesses, or network of like minded folks, group for folks looking for more page likes) and then post in these groups asking for likes or visits. Make sure you return the favor to the others there.
try using the "@" symbol followed by your page name when commenting on friends/others walls as a "signature" below your comment. Again dont spam people with that though keep it relevant. Share your posts on your profile and ask people to visit/like your page with the share. (dont keep inviting your friends to like your page)

I think now you can't do in any software to collect likes from social media. If you do it regularly then your account may be suspended as I have got penalized.
