    generate file id info

    i have seen some PHP file ID in some PHP applications and wondering: can this be generated, or it was manually typed in? it's to be use at the top of a php file.

    PHP Code:
    <?php

    /* $Id: index.php,v 1.103 2002/08/21 18:34:56 Solarex Exp $ */

    ...

    ?>

    That sort of thing is usually done by a website creation utility like Dreamweaver MX. I guess it would be possible for you to write a control script which would read the filesystem data for each file in a folder, then open it and overwrite the top 2 lines with <?php and then the required data. You would have to ensure that the top 2 lines in each PHP file were like this before you ran such a script ...
    PHP Code:
    <?php
    /**/
    ... so that your script wouldn't alter anything critical.

    That's my 2 anyway.
