Thank you for contacting Dotster Abuse and Compliance.

    1) No communications between the registrant and us on this domain.

    2) As shown by the WHOIS query attached to the original complaint, the domain is registered in the name of Hostonce.com. This has not changes since at least April of 2011, which was as far back as we researched. There is no evidence that the current registrant has made changes to the ownership information of the domain to hijack the domain.

    3. The complainant will have to work through the domain's owner to resolve any issue.

Please contact us if you have further questions or concerns.

My Response to ICANN Whom directed me to talk with Xibig.com (THEY ARE THE SAME AND ONE ) BUT NOW THEY HAVE A PHONE.....use it.....or if you do not beleive it your self go to their web address and check the contact's page...!!!

Please note the attached PDF and you will see that Hostonce.com is Xibig.com.
Their billing address is exactly the same.

They are trying to get away with something and if you let them there will be many people getting hurt.

Your response is sending me to the Fox that is hiding in the hen house...!!

Please note that the information below is a wrong impression in your part if comparison of the address is made. They are definately changing their collar right under your noses.

    2) As shown by the WHOIS query attached to the original complaint, the domain is registered in the name of Hostonce.com. This has not changes since at least April of 2011, which was as far back as we researched. There is no evidence that the current registrant has made changes to the ownership information of the domain to hijack the domain.

    Hello Everyone,

I have read everything on this thread. I have had my domain name with HostOnce for almost 15 years. Never had a problem with service or support until now. Which makes sense since they are no longer in business.

I have filed a complaint with BBB and ICANN. I don't expect to hear back from either of them.

I have called my "Registrar" which is Domain.com and they couldn't do anything until they got a hold of HostOnce.

I did a "Transfer Request" through GoDaddy, and they also cannot do anything until they hear back from HostOnce, or HostOnce changes the information on my account.

DOMAIN.COM phone number = (800) 403-3568. Press 2 for "Service", then press 3 for "Have had account since before May 30th".

They are already closed for the night, so I will call Domain.com again tomorrow with the eMail address that CPL PRO listed: billingmng@xibig.com & info@xibig.com (from their website).

Also, I check my WHOIS a couple of weeks ago and it said the North Carolina & New Jersey address for HostOnce. Today when I looked up the WHOIS, it says that HostOnce's address is in Australia. And that my account information was updated on Aug 27, 2012. Seems a little fishy to me. But maybe they are going to change the info. My fingers are crossed.

    UPDATE:

I called Domain.com again today to give them that email address at XIBIG.com

Talked to a person named Paul. He said as of almost 2 weeks ago (Sep 1, 2012), Domain.com is allowed to change the "Technical Information" to whatever you want (probably your name/email), if HostOnce doesn't reply within 2 hours of an eMail to them (from Domain.com). Apparently, the person I talked to at Domain.com yesterday didn't know of that change. Paul said he will let the support team know that they have the approval to change it now.

So, if Domain.com is your "registrar" (look this up on WHOIS), call them at: (800) 403-3568
When they make notes on your account, they will give you a Reference/Case Number. The next business day, call in with that number and they should be able to change it for you.

You can change it to whoever you want. They don't require you to stay with them for hosting or anything else.

Please Note: Domain.com sends out their eMails in a batch at the end of the night, so you might not get authorization to change the info on your domain until the next business day.

    Domain.com registrar accounts

As of this morning, not all of the Domain.com support is aware they can do this for you. Also, those email addresses were not listed on my domain, but after some checking she told that what I read on here was correct and they would try to email the address listed on the account and if did not here back from it, they would update the information to my contact info. She gave me a case # and indicated there was no need to call back as they would email me at the email address I provided for the updated information.

I remained nice throughout our 30 minute phone call and it looks like I may get my domain back. I will update on the final results.

    UPDATE!

Only about 7 hours later and I have an email to login to my new legacy account with domain.com to control the domain that I thought I lost to hostonce.com.

    I'm Up-and-Running Again!!!

After a few more days of dealing with the transfer, I am up and running with my site again.

Everything is in my name. Out of Domain.com and into GoDaddy. I will be uploading my files to the FTP, so I should be live by tomorrow.

After getting the domain out of the Registrar's name (domain.com), there are still a few steps that you have to do in order to start uploading files to your domain. Each step seems to take another 24-48 hours, but that's fine, I finally got my site back after 6 months.

GoDaddy and Domain.com were awesome with helping me on this. If you have any questions on the "steps", post it here and I will try to answer them.

I actually just used 000webhost and pointed to it via the domain.com control panel to make sure I could get it to work. I had the site backup with 7 hours of contacting Domain.com. I am in the process of transferring to Godaddy now, since they are easier to integrate to Google Apps.

    timglove,

Have a read of the thread I just posted re a recent GoDaddy service outage (have a read of http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/sec...036&s_cid=e036). IMHO, the 90% of SitePoint members who swear AT GoDaddy (rather than by them) aren't wrong as GoDaddy remains a registrar and is out of their league with their extremely poor hosting efforts.

    not trying to give recommendations

    dklynn,

I actually don't host with GoDaddy, I only use them for domain registration and then point my DNS to the different hosts. I help to keep a handful of different domains up and the ones that are actually "business/corporate" we use network solutions for the reliability with the smaller ones that are for "personal" or non-profits domains, such as the one that hostonce had we use godaddy just for the benefit of costs. I have two domains that use google apps for pretty much everything and godaddy interfaces very well with google apps. I am by no means trying to get folks with bigger "business" websites to use godaddy, but I wouldn't think they were using hostonce prior to that as well.

On another note, who would you recommend for good reliable hosting that is what I would consider mid-level pricing (around 10-15 per month) or is network solutions right there among the better ones?

    Tim,

While there are many (searchable) providers, I'm now with WebHostingBuzz (US and UK datacenters) and love it. Their rates are not the lowest (nearly so, though, IMHO) but their service is the highest caliber! I'm running three vastly different accounts with them at the moment and couldn't be happier.

In addition, I'd just moved an account from modVPS.com. Nothing wrong with them despite some slow response times and I'd also recommend them, too, as it was a matter of a vast improvement in services/cost which got me to relocate.

I'd posted a checklist for the things I do when searching for a host. If you can't find it here (it's been in several threads), I can repost or PM it to you.

    Regards,

    DK

Everything is in my name. Out of Domain.com and into GoDaddy. I will be uploading my files to the FTP, so I should be live by tomorrow.

After getting the domain out of the Registrar's name (domain.com), there are still a few steps that you have to do in order to start uploading files to your domain. Each step seems to take another 24-48 hours, but that's fine, I finally got my site back after 6 months.

GoDaddy and Domain.com were awesome with helping me on this. If you have any questions on the "steps", post it here and I will try to answer them.
FYI - I just spent 40 mins on the phone, after reading this, in the hope of a similar resolution. They said they can do nothing. I have to write to ICANN. And my domain is in my name!

    DOMAIN.COM are USELESS!

Mmm. I had that same problem with them on the phone, CommanderQ. Apparently they've changed the rules, so that form I filled out and got witnessed and whatnot is totally pointless.

However, I then sent another email to billingmng@xibig.com and was sent a transfer code (I'm still waiting for the account to set up correctly, but the WHOIS details were altered to mine yesterday. I'd try bugging them again.

You could also try sending an email to support@mydomain-inc.com, who are part of the Domain.com company thing; they appear to have pestered xibig.com too, which may have helped in persuading them to action the transfer.

It's a pain. Best of luck!
