The course is all about Wordpress theme development, plugin development. They also provide information on online marketing and how to be a good freelancer for those who wanted to become a freelancer developer.

Why not try Sitepoints own learnable.com ? I signed up around Christmas time and I was impressed with the content quality. Also its worth noting that no one course will teach you everything you need to know, when It comes to web design and development hands on practice really is the key - this may sound like a cliche but after years of computer science courses I felt I learnt far more "on the job"

I have been checking it out today and have found it to be the best fit for almost all of my interests and it is very reasonably priced - I have put it on my "3 day rule applies" list - meaning before making a decision that will involve lots of time, commitment, or money I wait 3 days before making a final decision - this because I'm so impulsive LOL

I have bookmarked at least 15 courses that I wish to take so this will be a commitment of time, but for the yearly membership it is a super deal!

Hey akona178, I went to the link and must say that i left pretty quick as there is not a search feature so I can see the courses that I'm interested in - thought that was a big oversight - or maybe I just missed it, the page is pretty busy, especially after a 12 hour work day by the monitor! I really like learnable's search feature, helped me to no end. Thanks for sharing the info

Well, there are many website which are excellent for web design and web development but I am using "Creative Mentor" which provides one of the best services and courses. So, if you want to learn web designing and development then you should be go at creativementor.com.au. I am sure, it would be very valuable and beneficial for you.

Hey @r937 ,

I see a lot of experienced web developers commenting about how to avoid W3Schools. I can understand why people with advanced knowledge would steer newcomers to the scene away from the site, but I think the benefit's it gives outweighs the errors it provides.

For me, they (as well as SitePoint) have proved to be invaluable for getting to grips with and understanding basic concepts. The language and layout of the site is easy to the newcomer, and the fact that everything is linked to other introductory pages allows new-comers to get to grips with the 'big picture'. I'm leanring JavaScript now from the site and its allowing me to understand the fundamentals. I don't rely on this source 100%, and like WikiPedia, I use it to gain very basic understandings. and once I have that, I then move on to more technical websites.

I understand people will come back here telling me that if I want to learn web development properly I should devote the time and effort into reading and understanding from reputable resources. However, as this is only a hobby for me, and I'm juggling a new born with a full time job and still learning, the W3Schools site will continue to be an invaluable source,

Any thoughts or would you recommend steering clear of this site at all costs and knowledge levels?

ask yourself, even as a hobbyist, whether validation of your code matters

that should pretty well determine how much of the w3schools site you want to use
