Getting a message board notcied? They're always tough to start...
I suggest posting a link to a relevant forum area on every page of your site, inviting people in for discussion, promoting it in your newsletter and making sure it is prominently displayed on your site... or you could throw money at it... hehehe

In addition to publicizing it so everyone knows about it, get some friends or associates to post regularily on it. People are always more willing to join a message board if they know other people are already posting there. They don't feel as singled out.

Other than getting some friends to start things, it's good to submit it to search engines (obviously). There's not really much you can do other than what Adam said. Good luck.
