July Photo Challenge - Heads Up!

We had so many beautiful photos shared in our June challeng, Reflections: light and shadow, that I hope to keep things moving right along. This month let's go for :

Heads Up! Anything you find interesting when you point your camera ABOVE the horizon.-- Balloons, Planes, Clouds, Birds, Fireworks... shoot for the moon if you like.

Ooh. I have a couple already! (Are we allowed to post pictures that were taken before the month? These were taken on friday and saturday)

Nice start! You can post pictures that were taken any time as long as they are your pictures. We would like to see a short description, but it's not mandatory. For example: General location and if there was anything special about the equipment you used (camera, lenses, etc) or your reason for taking the picture (the light, the setting, etc.)

Aha! Ok

The first picture is the almost finished Shard Building in London. I believe I took the photo just outside Borough market because it looked good with the cranes next to it.

The second is Canary Wharf, London from below. I wanted to try to capture an appreciation of the size of the buildings.

Both were taken on a cheap 10mp Casio Exilim.

It used to be a flue-gas stack for the Artificial Fibers Factory, but now stands as a landmark for the mall surrounding it.

Let's recycle this picture (although it's still not very much above the horizon). I've already posted it here some time ago, but it's a start (and I actually don't have any other pictures by hand right now.
It's the moon rising in a warm August night, in the Valnerina hills, Umbria, Italy.

A small bird of pray controlling its hunting field from the top of a tree, taken in Holland, on a (very cold) Christmas day in 2010.

They're lovely, @guido2004 . I'm particularly impressed with the bird. Wildlife is really hard to photograph, especially in close-up like that.

Wow! I bet the Audubon Society or National Geographic would like to get their hands on that one! It's gorgeous!

A pic I took recently at Halls Gap (north west of Melbourne) looking south east towards the Black Range. There wasn't much above the horizon except blue stuff.

Fortunately the bird was kind enough to stay put until I was only a couple of feet from the tree, and managed to take a couple of shots

That's a stunning view, Ralph.

I wasn't quite as high up when I took this one - just at a first-floor window.

It was taken in May from the Riverside Museum in Glasgow, looking east towards the city centre. I like the way the river curves in one direction and the cloud curves in the opposite direction.

I remember I took about 15 photos of the fireworks show. Only 7 were useable. The rest I had to delete

I have a couple of rainbows photos here - a strange, partly-obscured rainbow over Bowmore Main Street, and twin rainbows over the whisky bonds.

We have a lot of great pictures so far this month, but what we'd like to see are pictures of things over the horizon. Does anyone have some of those? For instance, our original thought was to title this thread "up in the air".
