Question how do you check browser compatability?

How do you check that your page is compatible with every browser and version?

For example, if i want to know what my page looks like in:
    - IE 5
    - IE 5 Mac
    - IE 6
    - Netscape 4
    - Netscape 6
    - Netscape 7
    - Opera 6

how would you go about doing it? Is there an online service available, or do you manually install every version possible?
Or do you wait until a user reports a bug?

on windows, you can install as many browsers as you want (i currently have NS 4.79, NS 6.2, NS 7.0, Mozilla 1.2, Phoenix 0.4, Opera 5.0, Opera 6.0, Opera 7.0 and lynx), but it will only allow you to run a single version of IE (in my case, 5.5).

don't know of any online services that test or "emulate" different platforms/browsers...but would be interested if anybody else has any suggestions...
