Hypothetically speaking, how could I accomplish this task:
Suppose I have 2 affiliate programs set up on my site; Amazon.com and Pets.com. And let's say I want to give my visitors who shop at these stores through my links a 10% cashback bonus on their purchases.
How can I track their purchases back to them? I know I can verify all purchases made through my Amazon or Pets account reports, but how can I determine which visitors made what purchases and for how much?! Do I need to use cookies somehow? Do they need to "Login" somewhere first before shopping?
Any help or ideas how this can be accomplished would be greatly appreciated.
There is no way to do this that I'm aware of. Once the user leaves your site, you have no way of knowing whether they made a purchase or not. Affiliate links track the number of click-throughs -- not the identities of the users. To do so would probably be considered an invasion of privacy.
Maybe I should have been clearer on what exactly I meant! Actually, what I'm referring to, now that I think about it, is the type of service that Spree.com and Ebates.com offer.
When you sign up, log in, and shop at various stores linked from their site, you get a certain percentage cashback for making purchases.
So, basically, I was wondering, how can I accomplish that and set that up for my visitors -- perhaps in a much simpler way?!
