Looking for an application that is good at creating ISBN barcodes (for both Mac and PC). Has anybody had any luck with them?

It will be for book building with a new publishing house.

To be honest, I don't think that's the way it works. You have to buy ISBNs from a registered provider, and when you register the a book, they send you the bar code. At least, that's how I've done it, but I might be totally wrong.

It looks like each country around the world has some sort of government department or organisation who deals with the issuing of ISBN numbers, it looks like the organisation which handles the issuing of ISBN numbers in Canada is the CISS.

It is different to get a ISBN number and create the number into barcode. you can refer to the following article for more details.

Try to use the developer applications such as C#.NET to create ISBN with correct data. ISBN is kind of EAN-13 barcode with 978 or 979 as beginning.
