Okay. As long as we agree about that.

I love talking about my life, but no one really cares. I guess I am gonna tell then.
Well I start school on the 5th. I will be a Junior in High School.
I currently have
First Quarter
Developing World
Literature of America's
Advanced Multimedia Production
Chemistry
Fall Team Sports
Spanish 2
Geometry Concepts
Well, I got that from a teacher at the open house on Tuesday. It seems as I have a hard load this year.
I am saving up for a laptop, which I posted previously. You'll be surprised for what I get.

I'm just about to go into the UK 9th year (thats 8th grade for you, or age 13-14).
We still study all subjects for another year, then we get to choose

Let me first explain the exclusive and orginal school system of Belgium -ugh-
Kindergarten:
(getting to know stuff while playing)
3-4: 1st Year
4-5: 2nd Year
5-6: 3rd Year
Basic School:
(the basics of the language, Math, Biology, History, etc etc)
6-7: 1st Year
7-8: 2nd Year
8-9: 3rd Year
9-10: 4th Year
10-11: 5th Year
11-12: 6th Year
Secundary School:
Or you choose:
- ASO: School for those who want to extend school period by going to University or High School
- BSO: Those who want to start working after they finished school
- TSO: Technical education. You can specialise but you can also go working direct after you finished.
- BO: Special education for people with disabilities
In all cases there are 6 grades. But each school system has its own 'packages'. ie Latin-Math in ASO gives you more Math and Latin + all the other general lessons (Chemiques, Phisices, Biology, French, English, Geography, Dutch, etc etc.) . Wood in TSO will learn you to work with wood (but it won't give you that much French, that much Dutch, that much Math, ... as in ASO systems)
12-13: 1st Year
13-14: 2nd Year
14-15: 3rd Year
15-16: 4th Year
16-17: 5th Year -> I'm here and I'm doing ASO Languages - Sciences (so more Languages and Science, but still a nice amount of Math)
17-18: 6th Year
University or High School:
In general High School is easier than University. Although the difference isn't THAT big. You can only go here if you have done ASO.
I hope I could explain you guys this so you get smarter again :-)

This year I'll be in 10th grade (15 yo), and I'm taking:
World Cultures II (Which is funny 'cause I havn't taken WC I yet...)
AP Computer Science
Honors Biology I
English 10
Symphonic Winds
Higher Algebra/Trig
Life of Christ (It's a private school. It sucks.)

You want to repeat that, christophe?
The schoolsystem here in The Netherlands is almost the same, so the Belgium one is not THAT origional
I've not much things at school next year (actually monday the 4th of september, but I rather don't think about it...)
Some computer stuff (not sure what exactly), English (Boring...), Dutch (even more boring) and electronics
Wish me luck guys... Next Monday it's the first day school

And the school system seems similar to the one in German (from what I've heard)

Well, I'm just starting high school. I'll be taking Advanced English, Algebra, History, Spanish, Introduction to Technology (it's lame; learn how to type? lol), and the general other ones. I start Wednesday![]()

I've just finished A Levels; A in Art & Design, D in Design & Technology (thats woodwork, metalwork, electronics). I flunked Maths and Physics; lousy combination of parents divorcing and me being extremely lazy anyway.
I did have an unconditional offer for a degree course in Multimedia Design but I don't think its really for me; I'm more interested in the business stuff. I just applied for that because I'm good at Art and knew I wanted to do something internet-related.
So what I'm going to do now is take a gap year, do another couple of AS Levels (half the value of A levels) so I can apply for a degree in ecommerce. As well as earning some money in the local supermarket because my mum doesn't want me living off her forever, lol.
...KartLink...

I'm in sixthform, and in college as well.
I am doing Politics, English, History, Chemistry A-Level, and a GNVQ in computing software, hardware, programming and networking.

I think you should pay more attention during English because the language called 'Nertherlands' doesn't exist. It's the small country you live in
Some computer stuff (not sure what exactly), English (Boring...), Netherlands (even more boring) and electronica
Let me correct this to 'Dutch' (ok it is late Nederlands = Dutch
)
Secondly I think in english it is called Electronics and not Electronica.
GOOD LUCK (you're going to need it) JUST KIDDING
Christophe

Not really... The German school system is different. First of all some have to go to school on Sathurday but they can leave school at 2-3 PM I think. While we CAN go out at 4pm (although this depends from school to school)Originally posted by JRS385

Grrr you got 2 more A*'s than meWell you are doing the English boards, I presume, which (as everybody knows) are the easiest in the UK. My board, CCEA, sets the hardest exams in the UK
And anyway I'm getting my Additional Maths remarked - I was one mark off an A*. Cost me £25
I was going to get an A* in English too, but the moderator marked are whole school down in the courseworkMy B was in Biology, the only subject I actually revised for.
Owen:
You are correct, the BBC site is for wasters who actually need to revise for their GCSEs. <sigh> Yes, unfortunately, there are still people like that, even though GCSEs are getting easier every year.

Nitegold... fair enough, whatever I got I would only be concerned if it mean't me not continuing my education
I did OCR - Oxford, Cambridge and Royal Society of Arts Examinations which are "highly regarded qualifications" according to The Independant.
Think of that what you will, I am in no position to comment on your exam board, CCEA... I have never sat any of their exams...
Also, correct me if I am wrong (this is only a suspicion) but aren't the grade boundaries set after the results come in? So, although the exams may contain easier questions, you need to get more of them right.
[Edited by anti_alias on 09-02-2000 at 04:47 PM]
LOL I know in the case of Computing that CCEA board is much harder. In fact the government told CCEA to drop about 6 of their subjects (Computing included) because they were harder than all the other boards. So they aren't on offer any more LOL.....
Wow you took the OCR thingy.... I don't think there is any chance of me going to Oxford or Cambridge, basically because my family are flat broke![]()

nitegold: Do I still get a free link even if I put a link to your site in my 'links' page? (i need site promotion)...
btw; I didn't go to Cambridge or Oxford, I just sat the OCR exams...

LOL Nicky, yes, the system has been changed so many times in the past. This year, we now sit AS levels and then A2 levels, which are basically modulated A-Levels. It changes every year. I don't know how employers keep up.
